This kind of activity is for you if you feel strong enough to give a dare to nature, power and greatness of volcanoes!
This type of the route is the sphere of Kamchatka extreme winter tourism.
First you make great efforts, acceding to the top of a volcano, and then enjoy the skiing descending which takes your breath away.
The Avachinskiy volcano (2741 м.)
is situated in 25 kms to the north from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy.
It appeared more than 10 000 years ago. It represents a sommo-volcano, i.e. a volcano in a volcano.
The period between eruptions is 15 years. The last eruption was in January 13, 1991.
Some days inhabitants of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy leaving their homes in a frosty morning,
could observe fiery fireworks above the crater of the volcano covered with snow.
Then a curling column of ashes and pair replaced it. On the top of the crater were 2 rather strong explosions,
and then its cavity was filled with lava. After full filling of the crater, the southern
slopes of the cone were covered with lava streams.
Now the most powerful outputs from fumarols can be watched on the tops.
The volcano consists of two truncated cones, as though they are put on each other - top modern and bottom old.
On the Avachinskiy volcano the ledge, named "Collar", was formed.
From it Two glaciers Novograblenova and Arsenyev are going down to the north.
In the southern part filling is proceeding.
The glacier Halaktirskiy is situated here.
The ascention on a volcano is simple; children of 8 years and older persons of 70 years do it easily.
The professional guides will accompany you up to the top and back.
From height of the Volcano you'll see the magnificent view of Avachinskaya guba,
volcanos Goreliy and Mutnovskiy, the cities Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy and Elizovo.
