"My native peninsula is among severe waters,
you on a map between two seas,
as if the big king salmon on spawning goes.
Even, Koryaks and Itelmen people live here.
In boundless tundra of thousand lakes,
the rivers go down from mountains like necklaces,
geysers, fountains, and "home" volcanoes.
You native territory loved by me,
a smell of cloudberries and a song of a little "Chif, Chif" bird.
Eared seals, seals, timid rain deers,
the bird's nests on the rocks.
Crowberry and honeysuckle -
all this is our native land."

National ensembles of local people of Kamchatka can be called their Visiting cards - State Academic ensemble "Mengo", national ensemble of the itelmens "Elvel" as they keep and revive the ancient dances, full of expression and indomitable freedom.
They are the reflection of Kamchatka native people free life. Here is a small legend about how unusual name "Elvel" appeared.

Legend.
Young hunter Uht and beauty Lanchah lived in a small itelmens` village. They have grown fond each other and have soon got married.
All people were pleased for young family, except for the old malicious shaman of Cun dreaming about Lanchah.
When their daughter Elvel was born, Cun attacked a tribe of Ukhta, destroyed everything, and damned the innocent child.
Using the sorcery kind shaman Kveem at the price of his life, transferred the power of Ukhta.
Dying he said: "Remember, eighteen times will turn trees green and flowers will blossom before you will show the daughter to people.
Otherwise you will bring a disaster…"
The disaster has come quite unexpectedly. People have seen Elvel ahead of time.
Two brothers fell in love with her. But Elvel couldn't make the choice.
"… Elvel run out from the hut and saw that from somewhere two rivers flow.
One - wide and quiet, second one is smaller and very rough.
The girl tried to reach both of that rivers, cannot choose rushes: she likes both brothers.
She reached the sea, and stopped in hopeless position. Elvel cannot rescue one not having ruined another.
She stiffened between two loving brothers.
In despair shaman Uht has turned his daughter to High Mountain between two rivers going to the sea, forever..."
Many years has passed since that time, but nowadays you can see a sacred volcano Elvel between two rivers brothers.
