Nowadays there are 8800 species of bids on Earth, 220 of them are registered in Kamchatka.
Slatybacked gulls, tufted puffins, pelagic cormorants are the representatives of the seashore colonies of birds.
The most numerous groups are the inhabitants of forests.
More than 50 species nest in the stone birch woods and approximately as many again - in coniferous forests.
One of the most numerous species of the forest birds is yellow bunting, then goes chiff-chaff.
The rest of the birds are rather common, some of them are more noticeable and others are noticed only by specialists.
Such birds as ravens, magpies, nut-crackers, wagtails, partridges, wood-cocks, owls can be seen almost everywhere.
But also there are a lot of smaller bids, which we usually do not notice.
They are, for example, spotted pipit, One should also mention cedar waxwing, siskin, which dwell in taiga forests.
The inhabitants of swamps, lakes and lagoons include different species, among which the most numerous are: common snipe,
fish duck, Siberian pipit, scoter, forest tern and Aleutian tern, pintail, teal, curlew, wild duck, golden-eye, merganser,
dunlin, wagtail, plover, jaeger and others. In all here there are more than 50 species. It is the most rich
in number of inhabitants place.
Meadows are home to field lark , redcropped pipit, yellow wagtail, partridge, lark, yellow-hammer, jaeger.
Very often, unlike the other places, in mountain tundra one can see mountain pipits, squatoroles, mountain wagtails,
partridges, chiff-chaff, reels and in high mountains - swifts, buzzards, snow bunting, ravens.
One more bird, which invariably attracts the attention, is the whooper swan.
The nestling swans are numerous only on the north of the peninsula.
They winter in rivers.
The most famous wintering ground is the Semyachiksky Liman.
Sea birds are the most numerous species in Kamchatka.
They dwell on coastal rocks, small islands and on sea sandbanks.
These bids live in large groups, which for a terrific din were called the "colonies of bids".
They include such birds as pigeon guillemots, cormorants, sea gulls and others.
Specially noticeable birds are tufted puffins and horned puffins.
Among the feathered inhabitants of Kamchatka are wood-cocks, geese, ducks, partridges, wood-grouse.
